Metallion Cafe is a cozy spot in Uptown Vancouver where local art and community atmosphere blend seamlessly into a casual café experience. Known primarily for its cappuccinos, the café attracts a diverse crowd—students, casual readers, friends catching up, and coffee enthusiasts looking for a welcoming place to linger.

Inside, the walls are adorned with artwork from over a hundred local artists, giving the space an eclectic and creative vibe that serves as both inspiration and conversation starter. The lighting—softly strung around the plants and seating areas—adds warmth without feeling cramped, although the café does tend to fill up quickly during peak hours, especially midday and weekend mornings.

Metallion’s menu offers more than just coffee, with highlights such as their well-crafted cappuccinos and a variety of unique drinks including coconut-flavored espresso lattes and vegan-friendly options. Alongside beverages, the kitchen serves simple but satisfying fare like a highly recommended pepperjack grilled cheese with tomatoes, tomato soup, and fresh smoothies—perfect for a quick lunch or relaxing snack between errands.

The vibe leans casual and inviting rather than on-trend minimalist, encouraging visitors to settle in for study sessions, a board game, or a slow conversation. While the café aims to be a hub for locals, a note for remote workers is the somewhat spotty wifi, which can be a limitation if you need reliable internet. Still, the friendly service and personable staff help offset minor inconveniences, making it a pleasant everyday spot.

Best times to drop by are late mornings on weekdays or quieter afternoons when seating is easier to find and the atmosphere is mellow. Those who appreciate art-filled community spaces with strong coffee and a laid-back feel will find Metallion a comfortable neighborhood café to revisit.

A cozy cafe with eclectic decor and lots of artwork. The pepperjack grilled cheese w/ tomatoes was a 10 out of 10. A great spot for studying, reading, or hanging out with friends. Some cons are the wifi is not very reliable and the space can get crowded easily.

Great coffee shop with excellent character and service. Over a hundred local artists on the walls, board games to play, and inviting vibe to chill and relax while drinking your coffee. Will be coming back!

Finally stopped for a coffee. Rachel was very friendly, I had an oat milk cappuccino and my wife had a curry coconut latte. Great vibe. The menu looks good with some great vegan options.

The Metallion Cafe is a great place to go in the Uptown Vancouver area. I love the art, the strung lights, the plants and the overall atmosphere. I love the grilled cheese sandwiches and the tomato soup. And I can't get enough of the smoothies. And the times that I've had coconut flavored espresso lattes, I have enjoyed them and I normally don't drink coffee and beverages. Rachel, the owner who runs Metallion Cafe, is nice, friendly and helps in creating a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. I'm glad that I eventually discovered it and that I'm now a reoccurring customer.

I recently visited Metallion Cafe, and it instantly became one of my new favorite spots in the area. This place has a unique charm — a combination of warm atmosphere, stylish interior, and genuinely welcoming service that makes you feel comfortable from the moment you walk in. The inside of Metallion Cafe is beautifully put together: clean, modern, and cozy, with just the right amount of character. It’s the kind of place where you can sit for hours, whether you’re working on your laptop, enjoying a quiet morning, or meeting friends for a casual meal. The service is truly exceptional. Everyone who works here is friendly, attentive, and professional without ever feeling pushy. You can tell that the staff genuinely cares about delivering a great experience. They’re quick to answer questions, offer recommendations, and make sure you have everything you need. Now the food and drinks — absolutely outstanding. The coffee is rich and smooth, clearly made with high-quality beans and real attention to detail. Their specialty drinks stand out even more: balanced, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The pastries and breakfast items are fresh, delicious, and thoughtfully presented. Everything I tried had that “made with love” feeling, which is getting harder to find these days. What impressed me the most is how consistent everything is. Every dish, every drink, and every interaction feels intentional. Metallion Cafe is the kind of place where you can count on a great experience every time. Whether you’re looking for a cozy spot to relax, a quality coffee shop to start your day, or a nice café for a casual meal, Metallion Cafe delivers on all fronts. It’s one of those local gems that quickly becomes a regular part of your routine.

In this mysterious and fragile world, there is a universal thread of stories. A series of moments and events there are spread like pearls on a silky thread across the cosmos, each pearl representing an instant out of time, an event, a singular moment. These are the momentary pauses that create the story of who we are. The pages of our book, those things that nestle into our memory like a small bird into a handful of spun grass and twigs. These memories that are as real to us today as the moment of their inception. You know these places, intimate events, certain epiphanies by the side of the road. Metallion Cafe fits so nicely along that twisted path, a pearl on the thread, the bench along the tumultuous path. Eclectic and full of life, a safe and creative place. A cul-de-sac in the midst of a long run. I think perhaps the place is a reflection of my own mind, full of odds and ends, comfortable, and lived in. The walls are adorned with a panoply of curious art, much of which is worth a second glance. Regulars arrive and depart as if at a way station to the Shire. They look friendly and familiar as if perhaps long lost friends back from a romantic quest. The staff was friendly and direct, the atmosphere kind. And I suppose almost as important the mocha was excellent and hot. It reminded me of places stumbled into while trekking in far off lands, where suddenly you found rest along the weary road. These places that are the sum of the clients and the owner’s dreams. Interesting people thinking interesting things. People making magic in a place of quirky repose. Yes, I liked the mocha, a not too sweet cup that really was more like a bowl. This is a place I could rest… and establishments like that are rare. You know what I mean, a place to stop and what a relief my friends is that? Saturdays are chess night (a practice so far from my poor aged abilities as to exist in a foreign universe) and Fridays are crafts and crocheting night and I can only imagine the strange things that swim their wild way into existence. Yes, I approve.

I always love going to Metallion Cafe (formerly Mon Ami), and have for years. Only the name has changed, everything else is as amazing as it always was. The food is amazing vegetarian/vegan, fresh, and homemade, and the drink list (especially the tea selection) is so good. Rachel, the owner and operator, is one of the best parts of our community and creates a safe space for everyone from all walks of life. Many local artists’ works hang on the wall, and the whole place has a chill, funky, and homey vibe to it. You always find new and surprising things around the shop. There’s also books and games to play, as well as craft and game nights. I wholeheartedly recommend going as often as possible.

Eclectic and cozy, this is the quirky coffee shop of every 90s- 2000s romcom's dreams. A great place to chat, read, or write the hours away, the staff was kind and the food/drinks FANTASTIC! Cannot recommend the avocado toast enough (super bright, perfectly seasoned) and the Beehive Latte with oat milk (not too sweet, great flavor/balance, super cozy).
